Academic Programmes

The National Defence University coordinates and supervises accredited academic and professional programmes delivered through its constituent colleges and campuses.

Programmes Across NDU Campuses

  1. GAFCSC Campus. Offers the Post-Graduate Diploma in Defence and Security Studies (PGDDSS), Masters in Defence and International Politics (MDIP), Masters in Security Studies (MSS), and a PhD in Defence and International Politics.
  2. KAIPTC Campus. Offers the Master of Arts in Gender, Peace and Security, Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security, and the PhD in International Conflict Managements.
  3. National College of Defence Studies Campus. Offers the Master of Arts in Strategic Studies.
  4. Ghana Military Academy Campus. Would run a Post-Graduate Diploma Course in Military Studies as part of Officer Cadet training.
  5. Training and Doctrine Command Campus. Covers courses run by schools under the Command, including the satellite department at the School of Education and various trade and specialist schools under TRADOC.
  6. Military Health Training Institutions. Additional campuses include Ghana Armed Forces College of Nursing and Midwifery (GAFCONM) and School of Anaesthesia (SOA), with more specialist campuses to be incorporated as the need arises.

NCDS Flagship Programme

The National College of Defence Studies offers a rigorous postgraduate programme designed to address contemporary security and leadership challenges.

Master of Arts in Strategic Studies (MSS). The flagship programme providing advanced knowledge in strategy, leadership, and global security.

Certificates and Awards

Graduates of NCDS are awarded:

  1. Master of Arts in Strategic Studies (MSS) conferred by the National Defence University (NDU).
  2. Fellow of the National College of Defence Studies (fncds).
  3. Certificate in Strategic Leadership for short modular courses.

The programme integrates lectures, seminars, case studies, and experiential research at both national and international levels.
